En este momento de polarización política, es difícil descubrir la verdad. No quiero analizar el clima político y religioso que conduce a la manipulación, distorsión y falsificación de la verdad. Está bien analizado en SOÑAREMOS JUNTOS. Quiero invitar a las personas que leen este blog, que estén preocupadas por la migración global, los refugiados y los inmigrantes a tener acceso a información precisa sobre el movimiento de personas. Los medios de comunicación de derecha no muestran ningún interés en la verdad y la comprensión de lo que empuja a las personas a abandonar su país de origen. Los medios de izquierda ven lo que está sucediendo desde una agenda preconcebida y no reconocen nada que pueda contradecir su punto de vista. En los medios populares, la verdad no es el objetivo de los locutores. Es la opinión, a menudo simplemente el sensacionalismo, la que vende periódicos y financia la televisión.
¿Dónde se pueden encontrar noticias imparciales sobre migración e inmigración? Si está realmente interesado en descubrir material bien investigado sobre migración, puede preferir sus fuentes de información, pero he encontrado un recurso excepcional. Es el Centro de Estudios Migratorios de Nueva York (CSMNY). Fue iniciado por los misioneros Scalabrini como un instituto educativo para “estudiar la migración internacional”, promover el “entendimiento entre los inmigrantes y las comunidades receptoras” y promover “políticas públicas que salvaguarden la dignidad y los derechos de los migrantes, refugiados y recién llegados”.
El sitio web está en: https://cmsny.org. Hay mucho que ver en el sitio web, pero en la parte inferior de la página de inicio, uno puede suscribirse a tres listas de correo del centro. Estoy inscrito en cada una de las listas, pero la que encuentro más útil es la “CMS MIGRATION UPDATE: un resumen semanal de noticias y otra información relacionada con la migración nacional e internacional para líderes religiosos y trabajadores pastorales que cuidan a los migrantes”.
Hay tantas fuentes de noticias defectuosas que es muy útil dirigirse a las mejores fuentes. Un ejemplo es que la actualización ayuda a reducir el desorden de materiales mal redactados e investigados y señala las presentaciones más veraces sobre la migración.
Que Dios nos bendiga con el valor de buscar la verdad. Con la verdad, podemos discernir un camino hacia un futuro mejor.

Truth and Discernment
In the polarized environment of today’s politics, truth is difficult to discover. I do not want to analyze the political and religious climate that leads to manipulation, distortion and falsification of truth. It is well analyzed in Let Us Dream. I want to invite people reading this blog, who are concerned about global migration, refugees and immigrants to have access to accurate information about the movement of people. Right-wing media shows no interest in truth and understanding of what pushes people to leave their country of origin. The left-wing media views what is happening from a preconceived agenda and does not recognize anything that may contradict their view. In the popular media, truth is not the objective of the newscasters. It is opinion, often simply sensationalism that sells newspapers and funds television.
Where can one find unbiased news about migration and immigration? If you are truly interested in discovering well researched material on migration, you may find favored sources of information. I find one resource to be exceptional. It is the Center for Migration Studies New York. It was initiated by the Scalabrini missionaries as an educational institute to “study international migration”, to promote “understanding between immigrants and receiving communities”, and to promote “public policies that safeguard the dignity and rights of migrants, refugees and newcomers.”
The website is at: https://cmsny.org. There is much to see on the website, but at the bottom of the home page, one may subscribe to one or all of three mailing lists from the center. I am enrolled in each of the lists, but the one that I find most helpful is the “CMS MIGRATION UPDATE: a weekly digest of news and other information related to national and international migration for faith leaders and pastoral workers caring for migrants.”
There are so many flawed news sources that it is very helpful to be directed towards the best sources. One example is that the update helps reduce the clutter of poorly written and researched materials and points out the more truthful presentations on migration.
May God bless us with the courage to seek truth. With truth, we can discern a path to a better future.
