Migrant Ministry Retreats and Training

There are many workshops and symposiums offering training in catechetics, liturgy, immigration advocacy, sacramental preparation and more. I have participated in many such workshops and welcome the opportunity to address convocations of migrant ministers, catechists and hispanic community leaders. May you find the help you need with the “how to” of ministering with migrants, but I hope to offer the motivation behind our desire to walk with the poor.

“Walk with my people” Retreat

Those words moved me to observe, listen and learn from migrants who welcome me as “our padre miguel”. As the disciples walked with Jesus for a couple years, I invite parishes and communities wanting to know, value and serve the poor. There is great joy of walking with migrants, immigrants and their loved ones. I invite all to know the joy and faith of the migrant.

Migrant Faith

When I left the Diocese of Fresno, many of our migrant ministry volunteers said that before I left, I needed to put the lessons that I taught them into a book. They helped immensely with the project, but the book was not so much how to do campesino ministry as a way to fall in love with the people whom we are called to serve. The book is posted below.
