Padre Migrante
A Guide to Migrant Ministries
Una Guia para Ministerio Migrante
About
Fr. Mike
Fr. Mike is a Redemptorist missionary priest who has spent much of his life working with people who often find themselves outside the ordinary structures of Catholic life in the United States. Redemptorists are known as a community that strives to evangelize the “most abandoned” of society and the Church.
In 1991, Redemptorists founded Casa San Alfonso, a house of welcome for young people from the barrio of St. Joseph’s parish in Denver. After five years at CSA, Fr. Mike directed a bilingual mission team offering parish missions in 13 states. From 1996 until today he has worked in a variety of ministries to Hispanic immigrants, mostly in rural America.
After 35 years dedicated to Hispanic ministry, Fr. Mike notes that “my attention to people of migration allows me the blessing of meeting Christ in the migrant.” He hosts the Facebook page, Padre Migrante. He also has column regularly in Liguorian magazine.
“Migration ministry does not begin at the border. It begins when we invite those on the periphery into the Church and our lives.”
Walk with My People, A life in migration ministry is a memoir – and much more – about pastorally serving migrants who desire a loving relationship with God and the Catholic Church. With a foundation of inspiration from several popes, Fr. Michael McAndrew, CSsR, brings life to the realities of migrants in the United States and their pastoral needs. With decades of migrant ministry experience with Hispanics, Fr. Mike offers firsthand insight and poignant commentary on how to approach ministering to God’s people on the periphery today.
