Para unir a la gente
¿Qué es una red? Es una organización para unir a la gente. La Red Católica de Trabajadores Agrícolas Migrantes (CMFN) busca unir a las personas “para promover la formación de comunidades eclesiásticas acogedoras mediante la defensa de la justicia social, la dignidad y el respeto para todos a fin de que podamos ser una iglesia misionera”. CMFN recibe a todos, no solo los con quien encuentran consuelo, y con los que nos aman y que encuentan aquellos que encuentran consuelo con aquellos a quienes aman y están de acuerdo, pero con aquellos que vienen de otras naciones, religiones, comunidades, razas, clases y partidos políticos.
Como el p. Tom y yo compartimos nuestras esperanzas para CMFN esta semana, compartimos ideales que no se alcanzan fácilmente. Admitimos que no todos los que conocemos compartirán nuestra pasión por acoger al inmigrante. No todo trabajador agrícola migrante, agricultor, lechero, familiar, amigo, trabajador religioso, trabajador social, abogado, agente de inmigración, político o hermano religioso estará de acuerdo con nuestros enfoques para atender las necesidades de los trabajadores inmigrantes. Sin embargo, todos estamos mejor juntos.
Conocí a trabajadores, hermanas religiosas, voluntarios, trabajadores inmigrantes empleados por la iglesia, directores espirituales que consuelan e inspiran a los socios en nuestra misión y compañeros religiosos que alientan nuestra misión, aunque no estén profundamente involucrados en la red. Estoy feliz de haber conocido gente que quiere ser parte de esta red. También doy la bienvenida a quienes creen en los objetivos de promover la justicia, la dignidad y el respeto para todos. Que todos aprendamos a caminar juntos en paz, respeto, amor y alegría.

To bring people together
What is a network? It is an organization to bring people together. The Catholic Migrant Farmworking Network (CMFN) seeks to bring people together “to promote the formation of welcoming church communities by advocating social justice, dignity, and respect for all in order that we may be a missionary church.” CMFN welcomes everyone, not just those who find comfort with those whom they love and agree, but with those who come from other nations, faiths, communities, races, classes and political parties.
As Fr. Tom and I shared our hopes for CMFN this week, we shared ideals not easily attained. We admit that not everyone whom we meet will share our passion for welcoming the immigrant. Not every migrant farmworker, farmer, dairyman, family member, friend, religious worker, social worker, lawyer, immigration agent, politician or religious brother will agree on our approaches to attend to the needs of immigrant workers. Yet, we are all better together.
I met workers, religious sisters, volunteers, church employed migrant workers, spiritual directors who comfort and inspire partners in our mission, and fellow religious men who encourage our mission while not engaged deeply in our network. I am very happy to have met people wanting to be part of this network. I also welcome those who believe in the goals of promoting justice, dignity and respect for all. May we all learn to walk together in peace, respect, love and joy.

Oh Jesús, tú nos llamas: “Síganme”. Bendice, Señor, a todos los que acogen tu llamado. Puede que el camino no sea fácil, pero tenemos la confianza de que todo es posible si caminamos contigo. Que este viaje nos abra los ojos a las maravillas de tu amor por nosotros. Oramos por toda tu gente, por todos los creyentes e incrédulos, por los líderes y seguidores. Oramos por la sanación, el perdón, la compasión, la justicia y la paz. Oramos para que, al seguirte, nosotros también podamos ser pescadores de hombres. Bendícenos en nuestro viaje.
O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
