La “Casa San Alfonso Posada”

“Casa San Alfonso Posada”

“Casa San Alfonso Posada”

It was time for our youth group at Casa San Alfonso to sponsor an evening of Posada. The young people gathered at the youth house, most wearing serapes. Some walked to the Church. Others said that they would come by car. The car was small. Seven or eight piled into the tiny car. Two blocks from the house the police pulled them over for the danger of so many in the car. When the driver showed her drivers license, the police arrested her. She had several unpaid tickets for speeding. The others came to the church saying that the driver was arrested. The posada proceeded, but I had to go to the jail to provide bail. It had to be paid in cash and could not be paid until they completed booking her. At the Posada, several people helped us post bail.

At midnight, many of our youth group gathered at the jail. Finally, when she was released, we went back to the youth house. We prayed in our chapel, thanking God that we could get her out of jail. Then the youth moved the table and chairs, turned on the music and a fiesta began.

It was a Posada to remember, but not to repeat.

O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
