¿Donde vives?
¿Cómo respondo a esta pregunta? Parece ser una pregunta simple, pero ha sido difícil de responder para mí. Desde 2015 hasta el 1 de enero de 2020 viví con nuestra comunidad redentorista en Greenwood, Mississippi. Me mudé a nuestra comunidad en San Antonio y un año después a Kansas City. En nuestra comunidad uno no se jubila, sino que asume el ‘ministerio señor’. Informé a varias diócesis que podía sustituir por los párrocos que necesitaban ausentarse de sus parroquias rurales durante dos a cuatro meses. Es posible que necesiten irse a estudiar español, tomar un año sabático o necesitar ausentarse por razones de salud. Acabo de terminar mi novena asignación en tres años. En esas asignaciones he trabajado en Virginia, Oregon, Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma y México.
Me doy cuenta de que estoy viviendo la vida de un trabajador temporal. Asumí el título de Padre Migrante para llamar la atención a mi trabajo con los trabajadores agrícolas que realizan trabajos temporales en la agricultura. Como me he mudado de muchos lugares por trabajo como misionera. Obviamente, la movilidad es un factor en la vida de trabajadores del campo. Pero hay muchos trabajadores de la construcción, la producción de energía, el turismo, la atención médica, el transporte, el entretenimiento y más, cuyo trabajo los aleja de sus hogares durante largos períodos de tiempo.
En los últimos tres años, he llegado a apreciar mejor la vida de las personas de movilidad y creo que estoy empezando a ganarme el apodo de Padre Migrante. Que Dios esté con todos los que pasan tiempo lejos de casa y de sus seres queridos.

Where do you live?
How do I answer this question? It seems to be a simple question, but it has been difficult to answer for me. From 2015 to January 1, 2020, I lived with our Redemptorist community in Greenwood, Mississippi. I moved to our community in San Antonio and a year later to Kansas City. In our community one does not retire, but takes on ‘senior ministry’. I informed several dioceses that I could take the place of pastors who needed to go away from their rural parishes for two to four months. They may need to go away to study Spanish, take a sabbatical, or need a substitute for health reasons. I have just finished my ninth assignment over the past three years. In those assignments I have worked in Virginia, Oregon, Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma and Mexico.
I realize that I am living the life of a seasonal worker. I took on the title of Padre Migrante to draw attention to my work with farm workers who take on seasonal work in agriculture. As I have moved many places for work as a missionary. Obviously, mobility is a factor in the lives of migrant farm workers. But there are many workers in construction, energy production, tourism, health care, trucking, entertainment and more whose work takes them away from home for extended periods of time.
The past three years, I have come to better appreciate the lives of people of mobility, and I believe I am beginning to earn the moniker of Padre Migrante. May God be with all who spend much time away from home and loved ones.

Oh Jesús, tú nos llamas: “Síganme”. Bendice, Señor, a todos los que acogen tu llamado. Puede que el camino no sea fácil, pero tenemos la confianza de que todo es posible si caminamos contigo. Que este viaje nos abra los ojos a las maravillas de tu amor por nosotros. Oramos por toda tu gente, por todos los creyentes e incrédulos, por los líderes y seguidores. Oramos por la sanación, el perdón, la compasión, la justicia y la paz. Oramos para que, al seguirte, nosotros también podamos ser pescadores de hombres. Bendícenos en nuestro viaje.
O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
