Orando con jóvenes
Varias semanas antes de la inauguración de la Casa San Alfonso, invitamos a los jóvenes a orar con nosotros por la iniciativa redentorista de la Casa. Presentamos a los jóvenes una forma de oración procedente de un monasterio en Taize, Francia. Los jóvenes acogieron el ambiente, la música y la invitación a rezar. Pronto pidieron cantar una canción propia como parte del servicio. Era la canción de un joven solitario y perdido que buscaba la paz. Cantaron la canción en todas las ocasiones en que invitamos a la gente a orar, no solo en nuestra oración de Taizé, sino cada vez que oramos juntos.

Sintiendo mi tristeza
Oí hablar de ti, Jesús
Decían que me amabas
Que habías muerto por mí en la cruz

Y perdonar
Después de muchos meses, pregunté, ¿por qué esta canción era especial para los jóvenes? Un joven dijo: “Todos conocemos la soledad y la desesperación del joven solo, con ganas de morir. Cantamos esta canción para que nunca olvidemos nuestro camino para conocer a Jesús”.
En la Misa por el trigésimo aniversario de la fundación de Casa San Alfonso, después de la Comunión, todos recibieron una copia de la cruz que era el signo de nuestro ministerio Casa San Alfonso. Mientras la gente recibía las cruces, cantamos “Un Día Caminaba”. Varios dijeron que lloraron al escuchar la canción, por el grato recuerdo de esos años que nos reunimos en la Casa.
El éxito de nuestro ministerio comenzó cuando los jóvenes llegaron a reconocer el amor de Dios en sus vidas. Con ese amor, los jóvenes crecieron en sabiduría, edad y gracia

Praying with migrant youth
Several weeks before opening Casa San Alfonso, we invited young people to pray with us about the Redemptorist initiative of the Casa. We introduced the young people to a form of prayer coming from a monastery in Taize, France. The youth embraced the atmosphere, the music and the invitation to pray. Soon they asked to sing a song of their own as part of the service. It was the song of a lonely, lost young man looking for peace. They sang the song on every occasion when we invited people to pray, not only in our Taize prayer, but every time we prayed together.

“I do not want to live anymore”
Feeling my sadness
I heard about you, Jesus
They said you loved me
That you had died for me on the cross
I cried at that time
Remembering the time
That time that I lived without knowing about you
And here it is
My life and my voice
To sing
To praise you lord
And here they are
My desire to love
To live
And Forgive
After many months, I asked why this song was special with the youth. One youth said, “We all know the loneliness and despair of the young man alone, wanting to die. We sing this song so that we never forget our path to knowing Jesus.”
At the Mass for the thirtieth anniversary of the founding of Casa San Alfonso, after Communion, everyone received a copy of the cross that was the sign of our Casa San Alfonso ministry. While people received the crosses, we sang “Un Día Caminaba.” Several said that they cried when they heard the song, because of their fond memories of those years we gathered at the Casa.
Our ministry’s success began with young people coming to recognize the love of God in their lives. With that love, they grew in wisdom, age and grace.

Oh Jesús, tú nos llamas: “Síganme”. Bendice, Señor, a todos los que acogen tu llamado. Puede que el camino no sea fácil, pero tenemos la confianza de que todo es posible si caminamos contigo. Que este viaje nos abra los ojos a las maravillas de tu amor por nosotros. Oramos por toda tu gente, por todos los creyentes e incrédulos, por los líderes y seguidores. Oramos por la sanación, el perdón, la compasión, la justicia y la paz. Oramos para que, al seguirte, nosotros también podamos ser pescadores de hombres. Bendícenos en nuestro viaje.
O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
