Encontrar Campesinos del CMFN
“Somos un pueblo campesino migrante y de inmigrantes rurales, que camina hacia el Reino sin temor, dando testimonio como actores y no come espectadores; un pueblo trabajador en busca de justicia y consciente de los que sufren”.
¿Quién conoce mejor a los campesinos que los propios campesinos? La Declaración de Campesinos publicada en el blog de ayer es la noble declaración de un pueblo orgulloso de su trabajo y de la fe que lo sustenta, caminando “hacia el Reino”. Fue un privilegio caminar entre ellos durante el verano de 2007. El verano que coseché, fue el carácter de las personas con las que trabajé lo que más me impresionó. Ciertamente, el trabajo es desafiante, pero la comida y la bebida se compartieron generosamente. Hubo bromas que aligeraron las dificultades del día. Los desaires y las injusticias podían ser ignorados e incluso burlados.
En la comunidad hispana surgieron palabras de fe y oración espontánea ante el desánimo y las malas noticias que venían de casa. Quienes estaban separados de sus seres queridos sabían que estaban con otros que compartían su soledad. La comunidad es como dice el comunicado, “trabajadora, en busca de justicia, atenta al sufrimiento”.
La Consulta de 2007 resolvió comprometer a la CMFN a promover:
- Justicia Social
- Formación y Acción
- Derechos de los deportados
- Fortalecer la red de comunicación y acción
Si bien la Consulta fue hace dieciséis años, sus resoluciones necesitan el compromiso de toda la Iglesia. Espero con ansias trabajar por estos objetivos. Espero el lunes con ganas, cuando visito a los líderes del CMFN.

“We are a community of migrant farm workers and rural immigrants, who walk towards the Kingdom without fear, giving witness as actors and not as spectators: a hardworking community in search of justice, mindful of the suffering.”
Who knows farmworkers better than the workers themselves? The Declaration of Campesinos published in yesterday’s blog is the noble statement of people who are proud of their work and the faith than supports them, walking “towards the Kingdom.” It was a privilege to walk among them for the summer of 2007. The summer that I picked crops, it was the character of the people with whom I worked that impressed me most. Certainly, the work is challenging, but food and drink was shared generously. There were jokes that lightened the day’s difficulties. Slights and injustices could be ignored and even laughed at.
In the Hispanic community, words of faith and spontaneous prayer arose in the face of discouragement and bad news coming from home. Those who were separated from loved ones knew that they were with others who shared their loneliness. The community is as the statement said, “hardworking, in search of justice, mindful of the suffering.”
The Consulta in 2007 resolved to commit CMFN to promote:
- Social Justice
- Formation and Action
- Rights of Deportees
- Strengthening communications and action networks
While the Consulta was sixteen years ago, its resolutions need the commitment of the entire Church. I look forward to working for these goals. I can hardly wait for Monday, when I visit leaders of CMFN.

Que este viaje nos abra los ojos a las maravillas de tu amor por nosotros. Oramos por toda tu gente, por todos los creyentes e incrédulos, por los líderes y seguidores. Oramos por la sanación, el perdón, la compasión, la justicia y la paz. Oramos para que, al seguirte, nosotros también podamos ser pescadores de hombres. Bendícenos en nuestro viaje.
O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
