Él dijo: “Tuve hambre, y ustedes me alimentaron…”

Honor the poor
At the last judgement in Matthew chapter 25, Jesus tells us that we will not be asked about how well we were taught religion, or how well we followed the ten commandments, or how we worshipped God. He said, “When I was hungry, you gave me to eat…” Seeing Jesus in the poor is not easy. Sometimes helping the poor is gratifying with the well-mannered poor approaching churches for help. But sometimes the poor person has issues of depression, addictions, lack of emotional control and they do not leave a feeling of peace with our Lord.
Learning to see Jesus in the poor is not easy. Are we aware of Jesus in the poor, the migrant, the prisoner, the ill and all people on the periphery of church and society? When we respect the poor, we encounter Jesus.
