Sean “Bienaventuranzas”
Al celebrar el Día de Todos los Santos y el Día de los Difuntos, honramos a quienes vivieron y le dieron sentido al Sermón del Monte. Recordamos a aquellos cuya fidelidad y amor nos inspiraron, aunque solo sean reconocidos por sus compañeros en esta vida. Podemos llamarlos santos con una “s” minúscula. Si bien su santidad no es famosa, nos inspiraron. Destacan en nuestra memoria como representantes de las Bienaventuranzas. Cuando salgamos de esta tierra, recibamos las bendiciones de las Bienaventuranzas.
Felices los que tienen el espíritu del pobre, porque de ellos es el Reino de los Cielos.
Los pobres de espíritu son aquellos que se sienten cómodos amando a Dios con todo su ser y amando a su prójimo. Se destacan por su generosidad y humildad.
Felices los que lloran, porque recibirán consuelo.
Aquellos que caminan con otros en la intimidad de la vida continúan amando a los que ya no están con nosotros. Recuerdan a los seres queridos que pasan sin pensar en la tristeza, pero agradecidos por los momentos de paz y alegría que compartieron con otro.
Felices los pacientes, porque recibirán la tierra en herencia.
La santidad es siempre amable y humilde. La recompensa para aquellos que aceptan las cosas que no pueden cambiar será bendecida.
Felices los que tienen hambre y sed de justicia, porque serán saciados.
Muchos rara vez entienden trabajar por la justicia, pero la perseverancia en la rectitud será recompensada.
Felices los compasivos, porque obtendrán misericordia.
Los misericordiosos caminan de cerca con Jesús cuando vino al mundo, no para condenar al mundo, sino para liberar a las personas.
Felices los de corazón limpio, porque verán a Dios.
Los limpios de corazón no guardan rencor. Inspiran a otros por su constancia.
Felices a los que trabajan por la paz, porque serán reconocidos como hijos de Dios.
El pacificador refleja a muchos de los demás enumerados en las Bienaventuranzas. Son mansos, pobres de espíritu, lloran, tienen hambre y sed de justicia y viven con un corazón limpio.
Felices los que son perseguidos por causa del bien, porque de ellos es el Reino de los Cielos.
El mayor privilegio que tengo como misionero es la oportunidad de caminar con personas al margen de la sociedad y la Iglesia. Su capacidad de esperar en medio de la violencia, la tragedia y la injusticia muestra el Amor de Dios por toda su creación.

Be “Beatitudes”
As we celebrate All Saints Day and All Souls Day, we honor those who lived gave meaning to the Sermon on the Mount. We remember those whose fidelity and love inspired us, even though they are only recognized by their companions in this life. We may call them saints with a small “s”. While their saintliness is not famous, they inspired us. They stand out in our memories as representatives of the Beatitudes. When we pass from this earth, may we receive the blessings of the Beatitudes.
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
The poor in spirit are those comfortable with loving God with all their being and loving their neighbor. They are noticeable in their generosity and humility.
Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Those who walk with others in the intimacy of life continue to love those who are no longer with us. They remember loved ones who pass never dwelling on the sadness, but grateful for the moments of peace and joy that they shared with another.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.
Saintliness is always kind and humble. The reward for those who accept the things that they cannot change will be blessed.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
Working for justice is seldom understood by many, but steadfastness in righteousness will be rewarded.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
The merciful walk closely with Jesus as he came into the world not to condemn the world, but to set people free.
Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.
The clean of heart carry no grudge. They inspire others by their constancy.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
The peacemaker reflects so many of the others listed in the Beatitudes. They are meek, poor in spirit, mourn, hunger and thirst for righteousness and live with a clean heart.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
The greatest privilege that I have as a missionary is the opportunity to walk with people on the margins of society and the Church. Their ability to hope in the midst of violence, tragedy and injustice display the Love of God for all of his creation.

Oh Jesús, tú nos llamas: “Síganme”. Bendice, Señor, a todos los que acogen tu llamado. Puede que el camino no sea fácil, pero tenemos la confianza de que todo es posible si caminamos contigo. Que este viaje nos abra los ojos a las maravillas de tu amor por nosotros. Oramos por toda tu gente, por todos los creyentes e incrédulos, por los líderes y seguidores. Oramos por la sanación, el perdón, la compasión, la justicia y la paz. Oramos para que, al seguirte, nosotros también podamos ser pescadores de hombres. Bendícenos en nuestro viaje.
O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
