Misión por un mundo herido
Durante las últimas cuatro semanas, he ofrecido una misión para la parroquia de Santa María, Estrella del Mar en Ballinger, Texas. La parroquia tiene dos iglesias misioneras en Bronte y Robert Lee. Ofrecí la misión una noche cada semana en las tres iglesias en inglés y una noche en español en dos de las iglesias.
La misión consideró nuestra vida en un mundo con muchas experiencias de heridas. Los temas pasaron de observar las divisiones en nuestras vidas. Hizo un llamado a la gente a no juzgar ni condenar a los demás. Se centró en nuestro deseo de dejar las heridas de la política, la religión, las luchas familiares y los sentimientos heridos. Reflexionamos sobre nuestra herencia de fe, especialmente de la Palabra de Dios. Entonces consideramos la reconciliación. Consideramos nuestro llamado a la misión en el mundo. Y finalmente, cómo alimentamos nuestra fe en la Eucaristía.
Anoche fue la conclusión en la última de las tres iglesias. La misión fue muy concurrida. Fue refrescante experimentar una misión, después de tanto tiempo de reunión limitada por COVID. Ahora nos preparamos para la Semana Santa. Que muchas bendiciones lleguen a ti en esta semana de bendición.

Mission for a Wounded World
For the past four weeks, I have offered a mission for St. Mary, Star of the Sea parish in Ballinger, Texas. The parish has two mission churches in Bronte and Robert Lee. I offered the mission one night each week in the three churches in English and one night in Spanish in two of the churches.
The mission considered our living in a world with many experiences of woundedness. The themes moved from observing the divisions in our lives. It called on people to not judge or condemn others. It focused on our desire to put aside the hurts of politics, religion, family struggles and hurt feelings. We reflected on our heritage of faith, especially from the Word of God. Then we considered reconciliation. We considered our call to mission in the world. And finally, how we nourish our faith, especially in Eucharist.
Last night was the conclusion at the last of the three churches. The mission was well attended. It was refreshing to experience a mission, after so long a time of limited gathering of people of faith. Now we prepare for Holy Week. May many blessings come your way in this week of blessing.

Oh Jesús, tú nos llamas: “Síganme”. Bendice, Señor, a todos los que acogen tu llamado. Puede que el camino no sea fácil, pero tenemos la confianza de que todo es posible si caminamos contigo. Que este viaje nos abra los ojos a las maravillas de tu amor por nosotros. Oramos por toda tu gente, por todos los creyentes e incrédulos, por los líderes y seguidores. Oramos por la sanación, el perdón, la compasión, la justicia y la paz. Oramos para que, al seguirte, nosotros también podamos ser pescadores de hombres. Bendícenos en nuestro viaje.
O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
