Aleluya, ¿de verdad?
¿Ha sido difícil para ti este año pasado? Hoy vuelo a San Diego para el funeral de mi tía Dotty. Ella también es mi madrina. Ella era una gran mujer, con una vida plena y con una gran familia. Este no es un funeral difícil. La extrañaremos, pero estaremos celebrando sus noventa y siete años. Su muerte fue de naturaleza y su deseo de reencontrarse con su esposo que murió hace treinta y dos años. Estoy agradecido por su vida bendecida, su inspiración y su bondad para con todos nosotros.
Al mismo tiempo, me preparo para mi vuelo. Este es mi primer vuelo desde que comenzó la pandemia. Ha pasado tanto tiempo. Muchos han sufrido COVID y la pérdida de seres queridos. Parece que la pandemia nunca terminará. Es frustrante ver que las personas evitan las vacunas y no toman las precauciones necesarias para frenar el coronavirus. Deseo el fin del virus y la apertura para ir a donde queramos, cuando queramos, con quien queramos y poder volver a tocar y abrazar.
Con fe, podemos entregar a la tía Dotty al Señor y cantar Aleluya. Mientras mi fe me asegura en la resurrección, mi corazón está inquieto por un futuro mejor. Es obvio que algunas personas confunden nuestro camino a seguir con la política y la locura. También hay argumentos religiosos a favor de la cautela sobre las vacunas. Esta pandemia no es política ni religiosa. Es un problema de salud y no abordarlo, ya que un problema de salud está impidiendo la estabilidad de nuestro mundo en nuestro tiempo. Espero el acceso mundial a los medios para recuperarse de esta pandemia y deseo que dejemos de jugar juegos políticos y religiosos sobre el problema de la salud central de la inestabilidad de nuestro mundo.
Aleluya, por el Señor resucitado. Que nuestros seres queridos resuciten en Cristo Jesús. Y que bendiga a todas las personas con la gracia de buscar el fin de este virus y ponernos en el camino hacia un futuro mejor.

Alleluia, really?
Has this past year been difficult for you? I am flying today to San Diego for the funeral for my Aunt Dotty. She is also my godmother. She was a great woman, with a full life, and with a great family. This is not a difficult funeral. We will miss her, but we will be celebrating her ninety-seven years. Her death was of nature and her desire to be reunited with her husband who died thirty-two years ago. I am grateful for her blessed life, her inspiration and her goodness to all of us.
At the same time, I prepare for my flight. This is my first flight since the pandemic began. It has been so long. So many have suffered from COVID and the loss of loved ones. It seems that the pandemic will never end. It is frustrating to see people avoiding the vaccine shots and not taking the cautions needed to curb the coronavirus. I wish for an end to the virus and openness to go where we want, when we want, with whom we want and to be able to touch and hug again.
In faith, we can turn Aunt Dotty over to the Lord and sing, Alleluia. As my faith assures me in the resurrection, my heart is restless for a better future. It is obvious that some people confuse our path forward with politics and craziness. There are also religious arguments for caution about the vaccines. This pandemic is not political, and it is not religious. It is an issue of health and failure to address it as an issue of health is keeping our world from stability in our time. I hope for global access to the means to recover from this pandemic and I wish that we would stop playing political and religious games about the health issue at the heart of the instability of our world.
Alleluia, for the risen Lord. May our loved ones rise in Christ Jesus. And may he bless all people with the grace of seeking an end to this virus and put us on a path to a better future.

Oh Jesús, tú nos llamas: “Síganme”. Bendice, Señor, a todos los que acogen tu llamado. Puede que el camino no sea fácil, pero tenemos la confianza de que todo es posible si caminamos contigo. Que este viaje nos abra los ojos a las maravillas de tu amor por nosotros. Oramos por toda tu gente, por todos los creyentes e incrédulos, por los líderes y seguidores. Oramos por la sanación, el perdón, la compasión, la justicia y la paz. Oramos para que, al seguirte, nosotros también podamos ser pescadores de hombres. Bendícenos en nuestro viaje.
O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
