Walk with me
I introduced this website, recalling the words of Fr. Enrique Lopez telling me to “walk with my people.” My walk with migrants is filled with many stories of faith. Some stories reflect the hardships of the migrants with whom I walk. Yet, my amazement is seeing the great resilience of their faith in the midst of suffering, injustice and insecurity. Other stories are filled with joy and gratitude for blessings in life. In all circumstances, whether stressful or joyful, the migrant wants to see the hand of God at work in their lives. The religiosity of the people comes from the heart, el corazón.
As I present these daily reflections on Migrant Ministry, I invite readers to take advantage of this webpage by reading the book, Migrant Faith. I wrote the book for catechists and volunteers in ministry with migrants. While much of the book prepares the catechist, it honors the faith of people who may not be seen in churches on many Sundays. The instability of their lives leaves them unseen within the ordinary structures of church ministry. The nobility and depth of faith seen in the lives of the poor humbles those of us who are more secure in our lives.
The book was published in 2013, and we have only a limited supply of the books still available. It will not be reprinted. So much is changing in ministry as we respond to the COVID19 pandemic, that a great deal of revision needs to be made to reflect pastoral needs and realities of today.
Since it will not be reprinted, I have published an online version of the book in English and in Spanish on this website. On the home page, click on the Resources page and at the bottom of the page there is a picture of the book in Spanish, La Fe del Migrante. There are two options for the book, one in English and one in Spanish. As you read the book, I welcome you in walking with me on a wonderful journey of seeing the face of Christ in migrants and immigrants.

Camina conmigo
Presenté este sitio web, recordando las palabras del P. Enrique López diciendo, “camine con mi pueblo”. Mi caminar con los migrantes está lleno de muchas historias de fe. Algunas historias reflejan las penurias de los migrantes con quien camino. Sin embargo, mi asombro es ver la profunda fe que muestran en medio del sufrimiento, la injusticia y la inseguridad. Otras historias están llenas de alegría y gratitud por las bendiciones de la vida. En todas las circunstancias, ya sean estresantes o alegres, el migrante quiere ver la mano de Dios obrando en sus vidas. La religiosidad de la gente viene del corazón.
Al presentar estas reflexiones diarias sobre el Ministerio Migrante, invito a los lectores a aprovechar esta página web leyendo el libro, La Fe del Migrante. Escribí el libro para catequistas y voluntarios en el ministerio con migrantes. Si bien gran parte del libro prepara al catequista, el libro da honor a las personas de fe que no frecuenten las iglesias los domingos. La inestabilidad de sus vidas los deja invisibles dentro de las estructuras ordinarias del ministerio de la iglesia. La nobleza y la profundidad de la fe que se ve en la vida de los pobres humilla a los que estamos más seguros en nuestra vida.
El libro se publicó en 2013 y solo tenemos una cantidad limitada de libros disponibles. No se reimprimirá. Tanto está cambiando en el ministerio a medida que respondemos a la pandemia de COVID19.
