La Iglesia es para todos
El deseo de la Iglesia de llegar a todas las personas comenzó cuando Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: «Vayan y hagan que todos los pueblos sean mis discípulos.». La constitución dogmática sobre la Iglesia del Concilio Vaticano II comenzaba diciendo: «Cristo es la luz de los pueblos». Sin embargo, en los últimos años ha habido un movimiento dentro de la Iglesia hacia un enfoque introspectivo, en lugar de ser misionera. Fue muy reconfortante escuchar las primeras palabras del Papa León XIV: «La pace sia con tutti voi!». «La paz sea con todos ustedes».
Su mensaje no era nuevo, ya que el Papa Juan Pablo II y el Papa Francisco repitieron con frecuencia lo que dijeron en dos documentos:
«Nadie está excluido…» (Papa Francisco en la Alegría del Evangelio, 3).
«En la Iglesia nadie es extraño, y la Iglesia no es ajena a nadie, en ningún lugar». (Papa Juan Pablo II, a los Obispos de América Latina, 1983).
El Evangelio no es un don privado de Dios, sino un llamado a todas las personas de fe y buena voluntad a trabajar por la unidad. En nuestros tiempos de división, en medio de las numerosas guerras entre naciones y guerras civiles, nuestra Iglesia defiende la paz. En un momento en que Estados Unidos ha actuado de maneras que generan violencia y división, la Iglesia ha elegido un Santo Padre, un cardenal nacido estadounidense, ¡y su mensaje es Paz! Que seamos instrumentos de paz, como nos han llamado a ser todos nuestros papas recientes.

The Church is for all
The desire of the Church to reach out to all people began when Jesus said to the disciples, “Go, and make disciples of all nations.” The dogmatic constitution on the Church from the Second Vatican Council began, “Christ is the light of all nations.” Yet, in recent years there has been a movement within the Church to turn inwards, rather than to be missionary. It was so refreshing to hear the first words of Pope Leo XIV, as he said, “La pace sia con tutti voi!” “Peace be with you all.”
His message was not new as Pope John Paul II and Pope Francis frequently repeated what they said in two documents:
“No one is excluded…” (Pope Francis in the Joy of the Gospel, 3)
“In the Church no one is a stranger, and the Church is not foreign to anyone, anywhere.” (Pope John Paul II, to the Bishops of Latin America 1983)
The gospel is not a private gift from God, but a call to all people of faith and good will to work for unity. In our divided times, in the midst of the many wars between nations and civil wars, our Church stands for peace. At a time when the United States has acted in ways that create violence and division, the Church has chosen and American born Cardinal as Pope, and his message is Peace! May we prove to be instruments of peace as all of our recent Popes have called us to be.

Que este viaje nos abra los ojos a las maravillas de tu amor por nosotros. Oramos por toda tu gente, por todos los creyentes e incrédulos, por los líderes y seguidores. Oramos por la sanación, el perdón, la compasión, la justicia y la paz. Oramos para que, al seguirte, nosotros también podamos ser pescadores de hombres. Bendícenos en nuestro viaje.
O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
