Llevando la buena nueva a un Mundo Herido
Cada seis años, los Redentoristas celebran un Capítulo General para elegir nuevos líderes. Hace cinco años, el Capítulo llamó a los Redentoristas a ser testigos de un mundo herido. Llamar la atención sobre las heridas del mundo en ese momento fue una profecía de los tiempos difíciles en los que vivimos. Ese llamado fue antes de que experimentamos muchas de las heridas recientes en el mundo por desastres naturales y una pandemia mundial. La misión parroquial redentorista invita a las personas a renovar y animar su fe. Las formas de las misiones responden a las circunstancias de los tiempos.
Si bien hay muchas bendiciones en los ministerios innovadores en línea desde que la pandemia de COVID ha desafiado dramáticamente las prácticas de oración, estudio y evangelización, muchos desean formas de renovar y animar la fe en entornos grupales seguros. La semana que viene, intentaremos predicar una misión en una pequeña parroquia católica en Eden, Texas. La “Misión a un mundo herido” se ofrecerá un día a la semana durante cinco semanas. Los servicios se llevarán a cabo al menos tres veces por semana para que las personas puedan venir en grupos más pequeños que en un grupo grande. Los horarios y la ubicación de los servicios hacen que la misión esté disponible para quienes no puedan asistir en un momento arbitrario. Habrá servicios en las comunidades de Eden, Eola y Millersview.

Bringing Good News to a Wounded World
Every six years, Redemptorists hold a General Chapter to elect new leadership. Five years ago, the Chapter called on Redemptorists to be witnesses to a wounded world. Calling attention to the woundedness of the world at that time was prophetic of the troubled times in which we live. That call was before we experienced many of the recent wounds to the world in natural disasters and a global pandemic. The Redemptorist parish mission invites people to renew and animate their faith. The forms of the missions respond to the circumstances of the times.
While there are many blessings in innovative online ministries since the COVID pandemic has dramatically challenged practices of prayer, study and evangelization, many desire ways of renewing and animating faith in safe group settings. Next week, we will attempt to have a preached mission in a small Catholic parish in Eden, Texas. The “Mission to a Wounded World” will be offered one day each week for five weeks. The services will be held at least three times each week so that people may be able to come in smaller groups than in one large group. The times and location of the services makes the mission available to those who may not be able to attend at an arbitrary time. There will be services in the towns of Eden, Eola and Millersview.
After announcing the parish mission last Sunday, one man said, “It is great to have three different times and locations for the mission. My work is flexible, and this gives me the opportunity to attend even if I miss the mission in my town.”
