Ser Guadalupano
Juan Diego fue el primer Guadalupano. Buscamos una relación más profunda con Dios siguiendo su ejemplo. Descubrimos ese ejemplo en el Nican Mopohua, el testimonio original de las apariciones de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Después de experimentar las apariciones y presentar la prueba de la Virgen al obispo Zumárraga, Juan Diego contó y volvió a contar la historia en la tradición azteca.
El mensaje estaba lleno de esperanza, sanación y promesas. Su mensaje llegó a personas que fueron conquistadas recientemente. Muchos murieron a causa de la plaga. Los indígenas perdieron sus tierras y su poder. Más profundamente, perdieron un sentimiento de orgullo, esperanza y alegría. La fe católica se desarrolló rápidamente en México y la historia de Guadalupe podría llamarse el evangelio de México.
Hoy necesitamos Guadalupanos viviendo con dignidad, esperanza, compasión y alegría. Hay demasiadas malas noticias a nuestro alrededor. Las malas noticias son crisis políticas, el medio ambiente, la salud, disturbios internacionales, depresión que afecta a muchos e incluso profundas divisiones dentro de la Iglesia. Necesitamos Guadalupanos que crean en el Evangelio, amen con generosidad, perdonen libremente y que sean testigos de la fe en sus vidas.
Señor, crea en nosotros un corazón Guadalupano.

Being a Guadalupano
Juan Diego was the first Guadalupano. We seek a deeper relationship with God by following his example. We discover that example in the Nican Mopohua, the original testament to the apparations of Our Lady of Guadalupe. After experiencing the apparitions and presenting the proof of the Virgin to Bishop Zumárraga, Juan Diego told and retold the story in Aztec tradition.
The message was filled with hope, healing and promise. His message came to people who were recently conquered. Many died from the plague. The indigenous people lost their lands and power. Most profoundly they lost a since of pride, hope and joy. The Catholic faith developed rapidly in Mexico, and the story of Guadalupe could be called the gospel of Mexico.
Today we need Guadalupanos living with dignity, hope, compassion, and joy. There is too much bad news around us. The bad news is political, environmental, health crises, international unrest, depression affecting many and even deep divisions within the Church. We need Guadalupanos who believe in the Gospel, love generously, forgive freely and witness the faith in their lives.
Lord, create in us a Guadalupano heart.

Oh Jesús, tú nos llamas: “Síganme”. Bendice, Señor, a todos los que acogen tu llamado. Puede que el camino no sea fácil, pero tenemos la confianza de que todo es posible si caminamos contigo. Que este viaje nos abra los ojos a las maravillas de tu amor por nosotros. Oramos por toda tu gente, por todos los creyentes e incrédulos, por los líderes y seguidores. Oramos por la sanación, el perdón, la compasión, la justicia y la paz. Oramos para que, al seguirte, nosotros también podamos ser pescadores de hombres. Bendícenos en nuestro viaje.
O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
