Proclamar la Buena Nueva
A los desilusionados, los desalentados, los ofendidos y los infelices dentro de la Iglesia de hoy.
Decimos de nuestra Congregación Redentorista que somos enviados por los “más abandonados”. ¿Quiénes son los que nunca han escuchado el mensaje de la Iglesia? ¿Quiénes no la reciben como la “Buena Noticia”? ¿Quiénes han sufrido daño a causa de la división en la Iglesia?
“Los más abandonados, a los que se envía en particular la Congregación, son aquellos a quienes la Iglesia aún no ha podido proporcionar suficientes medios de salvación, los que nunca han oído el mensaje de la Iglesia, o al menos no lo reciben como “Buena Noticia”, y finalmente los que sufren perjuicios a causa de la división en la Iglesia”. (C.SS.R. Const. 3)
La Biblia es el libro más leído en la historia de la humanidad, pero al escuchar a la gente hablar de ella, hay muchas interpretaciones del mensaje. Llamamos a la Palabra de Dios, las “Buenas Nuevas”, pero el mensaje es escuchado de manera diferente por muchos. Una vez un ministro protestante me pidió que hablara a su congregación sobre el escándalo de las divisiones dentro de las iglesias. Le dije que no hablaría solo de ese tema. Tuvimos que hablar de eso juntos. En su iglesia, la mitad de la congregación eran católicos desanimados, desilusionados, ofendidos e infelices. La congregación reconoció el respeto que nos teníamos unos a otros. El respeto es el comienzo de la reconciliación por las divisiones en la Iglesia.
Mientras vemos divisiones en el mundo, ¿no debería el mensaje del Amor de Dios, la Misericordia de Dios y la Alegría del Evangelio ser el mensaje que traiga esperanza a las personas que sufren a causa de las divisiones en la Iglesia, familia, comunidad y país? Somos misioneros de la esperanza. Nuestra misión es animar esa esperanza en todo lo que hacemos.

To the disillusioned, the discouraged, the offended and those unhappy within the Church today.
We say of our Redemptorist Congregation that we are sent for the “most abandoned”. Who are those who have never heard the Church’s message? Who do not receive it as the “Good News”? Who have suffered harm because of division in the Church?
“The most abandoned, to whom in particular the Congregation is sent, are those for whom the Church has not yet been able to provide sufficient means of salvation, those who have never heard the Church’s message, or at least do not receive it as the “Good News”, and finally those who suffer harm because of division in the Church.” (C.SS.R. Const. 3)
The Bible is most read book in human history, but when listening to people speak about it, there are many interpretations of its message. We call the Word of God, the “Good News”, but the message is heard differently by many. Once I was asked by a Protestant minister to speak to his congregation about the scandal of divisions within the churches. I told him that I would not talk on that theme alone. We had to speak together on this theme. In his church, half of the congregation were discouraged, disillusioned, offended and unhappy Catholics. The congregation responded with gratitude for the respect we showed each other. Respect is the beginning of healing divisions in the Church.
As we see divisions around us in the world, shouldn’t the message of the Love of God, the Mercy of God and the Joy of the Gospel be the message that brings hope to people who suffer because of divisions in our Church, family, community and country. We are missionaries of hope. Our mission is to animate that hope in everything that we do.

Oh Jesús, tú nos llamas: “Síganme”. Bendice, Señor, a todos los que acogen tu llamado. Puede que el camino no sea fácil, pero tenemos la confianza de que todo es posible si caminamos contigo. Que este viaje nos abra los ojos a las maravillas de tu amor por nosotros. Oramos por toda tu gente, por todos los creyentes e incrédulos, por los líderes y seguidores. Oramos por la sanación, el perdón, la compasión, la justicia y la paz. Oramos para que, al seguirte, nosotros también podamos ser pescadores de hombres. Bendícenos en nuestro viaje.
O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
