En Solidaridad por la Misión a un Mundo Herido
En 2016, el Capítulo General de los Redentoristas llamó a los Redentoristas a ser testigos del Redentor “En solidaridad para la misión en un mundo herido”. Llamó a los Redentoristas a “salir de la propia comodidad y atreverse a llegar a todas las periferias que necesitan la luz del Evangelio”. (EG. 20)
En ese capítulo, el Cardenal Luis Antonio Tagle, Arzobispo de Manila, pidió a los Redentoristas vivir en solidaridad, atentos a las heridas del mundo. Vivir en solidaridad significa desarrollar una actitud de escucha. Necesitamos escuchar tanto a nuestros hermanos que son nuestros compañeros de camino con los más abandonados, especialmente a los pobres a quienes somos enviados. No debemos temer al mundo secularizado. El capítulo preguntó a los Redentoristas: ¿Estamos listos y dispuestos a demostrar nuestra disponibilidad misionera? Esta pregunta nos desafía mientras preparamos una iniciativa en la frontera.
Nuestro primer desafío es: “¿Reconocemos a Cristo en un mundo herido?” Jesús dijo que sería reconocido en el hambriento, el sediento, el extranjero, el prisionero y todos los más necesitados. Si no reconocemos a Cristo en los más necesitados, corremos el peligro de no vivir nuestra fe. El Papa Francisco, nuestros superiores religiosos y, sobre todo, el mismo Jesús nos llama a reconocerlo en la periferia de nuestras comunidades.

In Solidarity for Mission to a Wounded World
In 2016, the Redemptorist General Chapter call on Redemptorists to be witnesses to the Redeemer “In Solidarity for Mission to a Wounded World.” It called Redemptorists to “go forth from our own comfort zone in order to reach all the ‘peripheries’ in need of the light of the Gospel.” (EG. 20)
At that chapter, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Archbishop of Manila asked Redemptorists to live in solidarity, attentive to the wounds of the world. Living in solidarity means to develop a listening attitude. We need to both listen to our confreres who are our companions on the journey and to the most abandoned, especially the poor to whom we are sent. We must not fear the secularized world. The chapter asked Redemptorists asked of our selves: Are we ready and willing to demonstrate our missionary availability? This question challenges us as we prepare an initiative in migration ministry.
Our first challenge is: “Do we recognize Christ in a wounded world?” Jesus said that he would be recognized in the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the prisoner and all of those most in need. If we fail to recognize Christ in those most in need, we are in danger of failing to live our faith. Pope Francis, our religious superiors and most of all, Jesus himself calls on us to recognize him in those on the periphery of our communities.

O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
