Padre Migrante viajando a The Dalles
Ayer prometí continuar las reflexiones sobre Compadres, pero eso continuará otro día. Salí de Omaha manejando hacia Oregon y Washington. Mi visita a Washington es directamente parte de mi trabajo por CMFN. Mientras esté en Washington, ayudaré durante dos fines de semana. Voy a visitar a la gente de Prosser. Ofrecí una misión bilingüe allí en 1998 o 1999.
También visitaré gente en The Dalles. Allí pasé trece veranos durante la cosecha de cerezas. Espero ver amigos y quiero escuchar sus recuerdos y su perspectiva sobre el trabajo que hicimos en ese momento. Esos veranos fueron una parte importante de mi compromiso con los campesinos migrantes. Quiero saber sus memorias y evaluación del ministerio que ofrecimos.
También quiero aprender de sus perspectivas sobre la vida agrícola hoy. Confío en que la gente estará abierta a considerar los cambios que se han producido y se están produciendo en las comunidades agrícolas hoy.
Llegué ayer por la tarde al Bosque Nacional Curt Gowdy, acampando y caminando por el bosque. Hermoso atardecer. Hoy viajaré y pasaré una noche acampando en Idaho. A partir de ahí pasaré un día con un amigo de los días del seminario redentorista. Voy a llegar en The Dalles el sábado.

Yesterday, I promised to continue reflections on Compadres, but that will continue on another day. I left Omaha driving to Oregon and Washington. My visit to Washington is directly part of my work with CMFN. While in Washington, I will help out for two weekends. I look forward to visiting the people in Prosser. I offered a bilingual mission there in 1998 or 99.
I will also visit people in The Dalles. I spent thirteen summers there during the cherry harvest. I look forward to seeing friends and I want to hear their memories and perspective on the work that we did at that time. Those summers were an important part of my engagement with farmworkers. I want to know their memories and evaluation of the ministry that we offered.
I also want to know their perspectives on agricultural life today. I trust that the people will be open in considering the changes that have and are taking place in rural agricultural communities today.
I arrived yesterday afternoon at Curt Gowdy National Forest, camping and hiking in the forest. Beautiful evening. Today, I will travel and spend a night camping in Idaho. From there I will spend a day with a friend from Redemptorist seminary days. I will arrive in The Dalles on Saturday.

Oh Jesús, tú nos llamas: “Síganme”. Bendice, Señor, a todos los que acogen tu llamado. Puede que el camino no sea fácil, pero tenemos la confianza de que todo es posible si caminamos contigo. O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
