Mi libro
Durante los últimos tres años, mientras escribía los blogs del Padre Migrante, he hablado de mi deseo de escribir un libro sobre el ministerio migrante. Escribir un blog casi a diario ha sido un desafío y, sin embargo, me obligó a reflexionar sobre algo más que simplemente mi ministerio. A veces, abordo directamente la vida con los migrantes, los inmigrantes y las personas involucradas en los problemas de los migrantes, particularmente en cómo la Iglesia cuida pastoralmente a ellos. También he reflexionado sobre aspectos de la vida fuera de mi experiencia ministerial. Durante el otoño, comencé a escribir más seriamente para mi libro.
Envié el libre a Libros Liguori en la primera semana de febrero. Estamos avanzando con la editorial, pero ayer recibí una sugerencia de Liguori para modificar el título y estoy feliz por el nuevo título. Siempre lo he llamado “Camina con mi pueblo”. Redcomendaron: “Camina con mi Pueblo, una historia de ministerio migratorio”. Creo que Liguori captó mi intención. Quiero invitar a la gente a asumir el desafío del Papa Francisco de ofrecer atención espiritual a los pobres.
Invito a los lectores a escuchar a los pobres, a dialogar con los pobres, a discernir lo que se necesita en este momento y a caminar con los pobres. Si la gente busca programas para los pobres, el libro no trata de eso. Al contar la historia del ministerio de migración, espero que la gente aprecie la importancia de acompañar a las personas en momentos de alegría y esperanza, y en momentos de tristeza y decepción.
Estoy muy agradecido con todos aquellos que han apoyado la redacción y continúan ayudando a realizar la publicación de “Camina con mi Pueblo, una historia de ministerio migratorio”. Esperamos tener el libro listo para publicar a principios de junio. Mientras tanto, oremos por las personas que trabajan con inmigrantes.

My Book
Over the past three years, as I have written the Padre Migrante blogs, I have spoken of a desire to write a book about migrant ministry. Writing a blog nearly daily has been challenging and yet forced me to reflect on more than simply my ministry. At times, I directly address life with migrants, immigrants and people engaged in the issues of migrants, particularly in how the Church pastorally cares for them. I also have reflected on aspects of life outside of my ministry experience. During the Fall, I began more serious writing for my book.
I submitted the book to Liguori Publications in the first week of February. We are moving forward with the editing, but yesterday, I received a suggestion from Liguori to tweak the title, and I am happy for the new title. I have always called it, “Walk with my people.” They added, “Walk with my People, a story of migration ministry.” I think Liguori captured my intention. I want to invite people to take up the challenge of Pope Francis, to offer spiritual care to the poor.
I invite readers listen to the poor, dialogue with the poor, discern what is needed at this moment, and to walk with the poor. If people are looking for programs for the poor, it is not what the book is about. By telling the story of migration ministry, I hope people appreciate the importance of accompanying people in times of joy and hope, and time of sadness and disappointment.
I am so grateful to all those who have supported the writing and continue to help realize the publication of “Walk with my People, a story of migration ministry.” We hope to have the book ready to publish in early June. In the meantime, pray for people working with migrants.

O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
