“¡El Espíritu del Señor Yavé está sobre mí! sepan que Yavé me ha ungido. Me ha enviado con un buen mensaje para los humildes, para sanar los corazones heridos, para anunciar a los desterrados su liberación, y a los presos su vuelta a la luz. Para publicar un año feliz lleno de los favores de Yavé, y el día del desquite de nuestro Dios. Me envió para consolar a los que lloran.” (Isaías 61:1-2)
“El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí. El me ha ungido para llevar buenas nuevas a los pobres, para anunciar la libertad a los cautivos y a los ciegos que pronto van a ver, para despedir libres a los oprimidos y proclamar el año de gracia del Señor.” (Lucas 4:18-19)
Los Apóstoles, en Pentecostés, recibieron el Espíritu Santo y proclamaron la Buena Nueva a más de 3.000 personas de todas las naciones del mundo. La multitud escuchó su mensaje en su propio idioma. Algunos confunden esto con el don de lenguas, pero era el don de recibir la Buena Nueva. Las historias de la Iglesia primitiva, evangelizando personas a la comunidad de creyentes, son más que una historia de predicación de la Palabra. Es la historia de vivir la Palabra. La gente se sentía atraída por el bien que veía en las personas de fe.
El Papa Benedicto XVI en una homilía pronunciada ante la Conferencia Episcopal de América Latina (CELAM) en 2007, dijo: “La Iglesia no hace proselitismo. Crece mucho más por “atracción”. Las palabras no son la única manera de predicar. Tenemos que ser BUENA NUEVA.

Be Good News
“The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the afflicted, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, release to the prisoners, to announce a year of favor from the LORD and a day of vindication by our God; to comfort all who mourn.” (Is 61:1-2)
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.” (Lk 4:18-19)
The Apostles, at Pentecost received the Holy Spirit and proclaimed the Good News to over 3,000 people from all nations of the world. The crowd heard their message in their own language. Some confuse this as the gift of tongues, but it was the gift of receiving the Good News. The stories of the early Church, bringing people into the community of believers is more than a story of preaching the Word. It is the story of living the Word. People were attracted to the good that they saw in people of faith.
Pope Benedict XVI in a homily delivered to the Episcopal Conference of the Latin America (CELAM) in 2007, he said: “The Church does not engage in proselytism. Instead, she grows by “attraction”. Words are not the only way to preach the Good News. We need to BE GOOD NEWS.

Oh Jesús, tú nos llamas: “Síganme”. Bendice, Señor, a todos los que acogen tu llamado. Puede que el camino no sea fácil, pero tenemos la confianza de que todo es posible si caminamos contigo. Que este viaje nos abra los ojos a las maravillas de tu amor por nosotros. Oramos por toda tu gente, por todos los creyentes e incrédulos, por los líderes y seguidores. Oramos por la sanación, el perdón, la compasión, la justicia y la paz. Oramos para que, al seguirte, nosotros también podamos ser pescadores de hombres. Bendícenos en nuestro viaje.
O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
