Reconociendo a Cristo en el migrante
Cuando escribí el libro, “Camina con Mi Pueblo”, esperaba presentar mis treinta y tres años en el ministerio hispano de la manera más apolítica posible. Mi camino con los migrantes comenzó con las palabras de Jesús: “Cuando tuve hambre, sed, estuve desnudo, fui forastero…” (Mt. 35: 35). Ver a Cristo en el forastero comienza con el migrante. Es el evangelio de Mateo el que nos llama a reconocer a Cristo en el migrante.
Necesitamos frenar nuestro deseo de separarnos y distinguirnos unos de otros. En Cristo, todos somos hermanos y hermanas. Necesitamos aprender a actuar en consecuencia. Necesitamos informarnos. Necesitamos reconocer la desinformación como desinformación. Necesitamos ser selectivos con nuestras fuentes de información.

Recognizing Christ in the Migrant
When I wrote the book, “Walk with My People”, I hoped to present my thirty-three years in Hispanic Ministry in as non-political way as possible. My journey with migrants began with the words of Jesus, “When I was hungry, thirsty, naked, a stranger…..” (Mt. 35: 35) Seeing Christ in the stranger begins with the immigrant. It is Matthew’s gospel that calls us to recognize Christ in the migrant.
We need to curb our desire to separate and distinguish ourselves from one another. In Christ, we are all brothers and sisters. We need to learn how to act accordingly. We need to become informed. We need to recognize misinformation as misinformation. We need to be selective about our sources of information.

We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
