El Plan Pastoral Nacional para el Ministerio Hispano/Latino se desarrolló en un proceso de Encuentros basados en la escucha, el diálogo, el discernimiento y el acompañamiento. El proceso refleja la experiencia de los Apóstoles y de la Iglesia primitiva después de Pentecostés. Los Apóstoles escucharon y acompañaron a Jesús mientras recibían su mensaje.
Los Apóstoles escucharon a Jesús mientras enseñaba. Reconocieron que enseñaba con una autoridad que iba mayor de los maestros de la Ley. Su mensaje fue más auténtico y los abrió a una relación personal con un Padre amoroso, un compromiso mutuo y un respeto por los pobres y los que necesitan ayuda.
Dialogan con Jesús, a veces haciendo preguntas, a veces debatiendo entre ellos y a veces teniendo sus propios desacuerdos. Se preguntaron qué quiso decir Jesús. Les preocupaba la respuesta negativa de los líderes religiosos hacia su maestro. Reflexionaron sobre el significado de las enseñanzas de Jesús y sus acciones. Incluso intentaron convencerlo de que no fuera a Jerusalén.
Descubrieron que la fe era algo más que la ley y los mandamientos. Descubrieron que se trataba de una relación con lo divino en sus vidas. El discernimiento significaba considerar las acciones y enseñanzas de Jesús al tomar decisiones de seguir a Jesús o no. Seguir a Jesús no fue una decisión fácil. Muchos dejaron a Jesús encontrando difícil seguir su mensaje. De los Doce elegidos, once siguieron y uno no.
Acompañaron a Jesús y unos a otros. Se dispersaron en la cruz, pero se reunieron antes de que Jesús entrara en la habitación después de la Resurrección. Se acompañaron hasta el día de Pentecostés.

Ministry of Encounter
The National Pastoral Plan for Hispanic/Latino Ministry was developed in a process of Encuentros based on listening, dialogue, discernment and accompaniment. The process reflects the experience of the Apostles and the early Church after Pentecost. The Apostles listened and accompanied Jesus as they received his message.
The Apostles listened to Jesus as he taught. They recognized that he taught with an authority beyond the teachers of the Law. His message was more authentic and opened them to a personal relationship with a loving Father, a commitment to each other and a respect for the poor and those needing help.
They dialogued with Jesus, at times asking questions, at times debating among themselves, and at times they had their own disagreements. They wondered what Jesus meant. They worried about the negative response of religious leaders to their teacher. They pondered the meaning of Jesus’ teaching and his actions. They even tried to convince him not to go to Jerusalem.
They discovered that faith was about more than the law and the commandments. They discovered that it was a relationship with the divine in their lives. Discernment meant considering the actions and teaching of Jesus as they made decisions to continue following Jesus or not. Following Jesus was not an easy decision. Many left Jesus finding his message difficult to follow. Of the chosen Twelve, eleven followed and one did not.
They accompanied Jesus and one another. They scattered at the cross, but came together before Jesus entered the room after the Resurrection. They accompanied each other to the day of Pentecost.

Oh Jesús, tú nos llamas: “Síganme”. Bendice, Señor, a todos los que acogen tu llamado. Puede que el camino no sea fácil, pero tenemos la confianza de que todo es posible si caminamos contigo. Que este viaje nos abra los ojos a las maravillas de tu amor por nosotros. Oramos por toda tu gente, por todos los creyentes e incrédulos, por los líderes y seguidores. Oramos por la sanación, el perdón, la compasión, la justicia y la paz. Oramos para que, al seguirte, nosotros también podamos ser pescadores de hombres. Bendícenos en nuestro viaje.
O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
