#2. A New Normal - Un Nuevo Normal

#2. A New Normal – Un Nuevo Normal

Nueva normal

New Normal

This coming Sunday’s readings are appropriate for us to consider our present time. Job is portrayed as God’s holy servant whom God allowed Satan to put to the test. His servants were murdered, his flocks stolen, his children were killed as their house collapsed on them and we are told that Job did not sin. He may not have sinned, but he was a depressed. In the reading for Sunday, Job says, “Is not life on earth a drudgery? … I shall not see happiness again.”

In this past year, many may say the words of Job. “I shall not see happiness again.” So much has changed in one year. So many lives lost. So many people living without the consolation of family and friends in the most difficult of times. We have been unable to gather for celebrations of love, life and accomplishment.

The responsorial psalm is more encouraging. “Praise the Lord, who heals the brokenhearted.” Paul speaks of the challenge that he faces as he must preach the Good News. Consider the news that he proclaims over and over. Christ’s redemptive love. The belief that he needed to preached the gospel free of charge

As the Church discerns how to proclaim the word during the pandemic and as we hope that we are seeing an easing of the pandemic. We need to look at new ways of proclaiming the Word. The gospel for Sunday is a great reading for itinerant preachers like the Redemptorists. Tomorrow. I will speak of the gospel.

O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
