Ver el bien en los demás
«Ustedes vieron bondad en nosotros que no se notaron nosotros y queríamos vivir a nivel de sus expectativas. Y cuando caemos, ustedes no nos abandonaron. Somos quienes somos hoy gracias a la Casa San Alfonso».
Dos hombres reflexionaron sobre su experiencia en nuestra comunidad juvenil redentorista en Casa San Alfonso, Denver (1991-1996). Al recordar sus experiencias con los Redentoristas de la Casa, recordaron momentos especiales de aquellos años. En los buenos y en los malos momentos, nos convertimos en una familia. Sin embargo, aunque recordaban momentos buenos y algunos difíciles, su recuerdo más preciado de la Casa fue reconocer su propia bondad, algo que nadie podía quitarles.
Los problemas que vemos en el mundo actual solo se resolverán cuando reconozcamos el bien en el mundo y en las personas. Dios miró a toda la creación y dijo: “Es buena”. No importa lo que haga gente, si creemos en la Palabra de Dios, tenemos que ver el bien que Dios ve en ellos. El pecado es la respuesta de los que no son malos, sino que realmente están enfermos. Su malestar puede manifestarse en actos de violencia, odio, racismo y mala voluntad, pero las personas no se definen por su enfermedad. Tampoco por sus actos desconsiderados o violentos. Cuando uno llega a conocer su propia bondad, una vida buena se hace posible.
Que Dios bendiga a todas las personas con el don de reconocer a Dios en su interior, porque Dios es bueno.

Seeing good in others
“You saw good in us that we did not see in ourselves, and we wanted to live up to your expectations. Even when we messed up, you never gave up on us. We are who we are because of Casa San Alfonso.”
Two men reflected on their experience of our Redemptorist youth community at Casa San Alfonso in Denver, (1991-1996). As they reminisced about their experiences with the Redemptorists of the Casa, they recalled special moments over those years. In good times and in uncomfortable times, we became a family. Yet, while they recalled good times and some difficult moments, their fondest memory of the Casa was coming to recognize their own goodness and no one could take that away from them.
The problems that we see in our world today will only be resolved when we recognize good in our world and in people. God looked at all of creation and said, “It is good.” No matter what people do, if we believe in the Word of God, we must see the good that God sees in them. Sin is the response of people who are not evil, but they are not well. Their “not wellness” may be seen in acts of violence, hatred, racism, and ill will, but people are not defined by their illness. Nor are they defined by their inconsiderate or hurtful acts. When one comes to know their own goodness, a good life becomes possible.
May God bless all people with the gift of recognizing God within them, because God is good.

Que este viaje nos abra los ojos a las maravillas de tu amor por nosotros. Oramos por toda tu gente, por todos los creyentes e incrédulos, por los líderes y seguidores. Oramos por la sanación, el perdón, la compasión, la justicia y la paz. Oramos para que, al seguirte, nosotros también podamos ser pescadores de hombres. Bendícenos en nuestro viaje.
O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
