Trabajadores de Temporada
Estaba caminando en las montañas hoy y encontré a un grupo de jóvenes trabajando en el mantenimiento de senderos. Parecían todos estudiantes universitarios y procedían de siete estados diferentes. Cuando les pregunté sobre su trabajo, se identificaron como trabajadores temporales. Me identifiqué como un sacerdote que trabajaba en el ministerio de trabajadores agrícolas migrantes. Fue interesante comparar su experiencia con los campesinos. Agradecieron las comparaciones de trabajo temporal y expresaron su gratitud por mi apreciación por estar lejos de sus familias.
También eran conscientes de los beneficios que tenían al estar en su país de origen y recibir muchos comentarios positivos de los caminantes. Entendieron la falta de apreciación en la sociedad por la situación de campesinos.
Fue bueno conocerlos. Hay trabajadores de temporada en muchos trabajos, y los que sirven en la agricultura, el servicio forestal, la construcción, el turismo y otras industrias necesitan atención especial en el ministerio. Que Dios bendiga a todos los trabajadores de temporada.

Seasonal workers
I was hiking today and met a group of young people working on trail maintenance. They appeared to all be college students, and they were from seven different states. When I asked them about their work, they identified themselves as seasonal workers. I identified myself as a priest working in migrant farmworker ministry. It was interesting comparing their experience with migrant farmworkers. They were appreciative of the seasonal work comparisons, and expressed gratitude at my appreciation of their being distant from their families.
They were also aware of the benefits they had of being in their home country and receiving a lot of positive feedback from hikers, and how it must be much different as the farmworkers do not experience such appreciation.
It was good meeting them. There are seasonal workers in many fields, and whether they are in agriculture, forest service, construction, tourism and other industries who all need special attention from those of us in ministry. May God bless all seasonal workers.

Oh Jesús, tú nos llamas: “Síganme”. Bendice, Señor, a todos los que acogen tu llamado. Puede que el camino no sea fácil, pero tenemos la confianza de que todo es posible si caminamos contigo. Que este viaje nos abra los ojos a las maravillas de tu amor por nosotros. Oramos por toda tu gente, por todos los creyentes e incrédulos, por los líderes y seguidores. Oramos por la sanación, el perdón, la compasión, la justicia y la paz. Oramos para que, al seguirte, nosotros también podamos ser pescadores de hombres. Bendícenos en nuestro viaje.
O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
