No culpes a Dios
Me han preguntado si creo que Dios creó a gente “mala”. Es una pregunta inocente. Hay tanto dolor en el mundo y actos horrendos de violencia y odio que la gente inocente se pregunta sobre la bondad de Dios. No sólo he escuchado esta pregunta de niños, sino también de adultos desilusionados. En Génesis, Dios miró toda la creación y dijo que era buena. Sin embargo, el pecado entró en el mundo a causa del libre voluntad dado por Dios a la humanidad.
Dios no se encuentra en el odio, el prejuicio o el juicio humano. Él no es la causa de la guerra, la persecución o los desastres naturales. Y no se encuentra en la injusticia, el castigo o el abandono humano. Como dice la primera carta de Juan,
El que no ama no ha conocido a Dios, porque Dios es amor. (1 Jn 4: 8)
y
Dios es amor: el que permanece en el amor permanece en Dios y Dios en él. (1 Jn 4:16)
Y aunque muchas personas profesan la fe en Dios, que envió a su hijo al mundo para traer la salvación a toda la humanidad, pero a veces todos dejamos de actuar conforme a esa fe. Hay un solo mandamiento dado por Jesús. Fue después de la Última Cena, cuando dijo: “Les doy un mandamiento nuevo: ámense unos a otros como yo los he amado”. (Jn 13: 34)
No importa cuán maldad hace una persona, la persona creada por Dios es buena. Todos tenemos la capacidad de hacer el bien, pero nos desviamos cuando no reconocemos la bondad de Dios en nosotros mismos o en los demás. Los enemigos los hacemos los humanos, no Dios.

Do not blame God
I was asked if I believe that God created “bad” people. It is an innocent question. There is so much heartache in the world, and horrendous acts of violence and hatred that innocent people wonder about the goodness of God. Not only have I heard this question from children, but also from disillusioned adults. In Genesis, God looked at all of creation and said that it is good. Yet, sin entered the world on account of free will given by God to humanity.
God is not found in hate, prejudice, or human judgment. He is not the cause of war, persecution or natural disaster. And he is not found in injustice, punishment or human neglect. As the first letter of John says,
Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love. (1 Jn 4: 8)
and
God is love, and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him. (1 Jn 4: 16)
And while many people profess faith in God who sent his son into the world to bring salvation to all humanity, yet at times we all fail to act on that faith. There is only one commandment given by Jesus. It was after the Last Supper, when he said, “I give you a new commandment: love one another as I have loved you.” (Jn 13: 34)
No matter how evil one may act, the person created by God is good. Everyone has the capacity to do good, but we stray when we fail to recognize the goodness of God in ourselves and in others. Making enemies is done by humans, not by God.

Que este viaje nos abra los ojos a las maravillas de tu amor por nosotros. Oramos por toda tu gente, por todos los creyentes e incrédulos, por los líderes y seguidores. Oramos por la sanación, el perdón, la compasión, la justicia y la paz. Oramos para que, al seguirte, nosotros también podamos ser pescadores de hombres. Bendícenos en nuestro viaje.
O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
