Vayan y Den Fruto

Go and Bear Fruit

For months, the Catholic Migrant Farmworker Network and Loyola University Chicago Institute for Pastoral Studies has been preparing for a gathering of diocesan, religious and lay leaders to renew the Church’s commitment to migrant farm workers and rural immigrants. The gathering will take place at Loyola University Chicago, from June 16-21. As we prepare for our gathering, I invite people to consider CMFN as stated at a previous gathering at Creighton University in 2007.

Catholic Migrant Farmworker Network

“We are a community of migrant farm workers and rural immigrants, who walk towards the Kingdom without fear, giving witness as actors and not as spectators; a hardworking community in search of justice, mindful of the suffering.

We are bearers of a historical memory, the present, and the journey into the future; being a people that moves forward, breaking barriers and creating solutions.

We are a community committed to the migrant pastoral and we serve with a spirit of communion to a multicultural community. Starting with a commitment to the formation of youth in our community.

We are a farming and rural community that needs to continue its formation.

We are part of this Consulta and we give witness to what we have heard, seen and shared; we are determined to put into practice and to follow up on what we have lived.”

The Padre Migrante blogs have been on hold for the past few months, as I have been working on a book that I hoped would be ready for this conference, but we are still putting finishing touches on it. During the coming week, I hope that I may be able to blog about our conference. I will certainly give reports on what we have been doing. Please pray for the success of the program, “Vayan y Den Fruto.”

O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
