La gracia de un camaleón
Un inmigrante necesita la gracia de un camaleón cuando busca asilo en otro país. Los camaleones se adaptan al medio donde viven. Su color cambia con el entorno en el que viven. Puede que solo sean tonos de color, pero se mezclan con su entorno. Esto es para autoprotección y puede atraer a su alimento para que se acerque demasiado.
Es importante que los inmigrantes tengan la oportunidad de estar orgullosos de su herencia y de celebrar las fiestas de su cultura, pero como inmigrantes necesitan entender cuándo y dónde es el momento de celebrar sus culturas únicas y cuándo es el momento que no desean llamar la atención a ellos mismos. La cultura y la fe tienen mucho que ver con los valores morales y la ciudadanía. Un inmigrante ingresa a un nuevo país con la esperanza de establecerse dentro de la nación anfitriona. Siempre hay presiones para hablar el idioma de una nación y encajar en la sociedad del país anfitrión. Estas son cosas buenas, pero también es necesario preservar los cimientos de los valores propios basados en la cultura y el patrimonio.
Debe alentarse la celebración de la cultura en entornos religiosos y dentro del hogar y entre los miembros de la familia. Sin embargo, para el inmigrante, hay momentos en los que uno no quiere llamar la atención sobre sí mismo. Durante las primeras etapas de integración en una nueva comunidad en una nación anfitriona, es importante que el inmigrante aprenda las leyes relacionadas con la conducción. En coche, los niños especialmente deben estar sentados en un asiento apropiado y asegurados con cinturones de seguridad. Esto no es solo por la seguridad de los niños, sino que también ayuda a los padres a mantenerse en buena onda con la nación anfitriona.
La adaptación al nuevo país como un camaleón se adapta a su entorno es para el bien del inmigrante y permite que las gracias naturales de la hospitalidad pasen a primer plano. Puede que a algunos no les guste la imagen del camaleón, pero es imperativo alentar a los inmigrantes recién llegados a medida que se adaptan a la vida en una nación extranjera.

The grace of a chameleon
An immigrant needs to have the grace of a chameleon when they seek asylum in another country. Chameleons adapt to the environment where they live. Their color changes with the environment in which they live. It may only be shades of color, but they blend into their environment. This is for self-protection and may entice prey to get too close.
It is important that immigrants have the opportunity to be proud of their heritage and to celebrate fiestas of their culture, but as immigrants they need to understand when and where is the time to celebrate their unique cultures and when is the time that they do not wish to call attention to themselves. Culture and faith have much to do with moral values and citizenship. An immigrant enters a new country with hope of establishing themselves within the host nation. There are always pressures to speak the language of a nation and to fit into the host country society. These are good things, but there is also a need to preserve foundations in one’s values based on culture and heritage.
Celebration of culture within religious settings and within a home and amongst family members should be encouraged. Yet, for the immigrant, there are times when one does not want to call attention to themselves. During the early stages of integration into a new community in a host nation, it is important for the immigrant to learn the laws around driving. When driving children especially must be seated in an appropriate seat and secured with seat belts. This is not only for the safety of the children, but helps the parents to stay in good grace with the host nation.
Adaptation to the new country as a chameleon adapts to his environment is for the good of the immigrant and allows for the natural graces of hospitality to come to the forefront. Some may not like the image of the chameleon, but it is imperative that newly arriving immigrants be encouraged as they adjust to life in a foreign nation.
