We need a new Pentecost / Necesitamos un nuevo Pentecostés

We need a new Pentecost
After receiving the Holy Spirit, the crowd that gathered to hear the Apostles preach was from all parts of the world. They spoke many languages. Jerusalem was the trading center of the Middle East, with people coming from Africa, Asia and Europe. We are told that 3,000 people were baptized that day, and that they nourished their faith with the breaking of bread and prayers. The new believers took their new faith home to share with their own people. Word of Jesus, his life, his teaching, his passion and death, and his resurrection from the dead brought Good News to all nations.
Today, our Pentecost is about receiving and recognizing faith in all nations. We need to overcome our fears of our borders and the arrival of people from other nations. Recognizing what we have in common, what we share in belief in God and morality, and rising above our fears is the new Pentecost. We need to recognize the Holy Spirit in all the faces of God gathered at our borders.
Beyond our borders, we need to see the face of God in all people, but most especially in those who have so little safety and security in life, but who still believe and call on God. The blessing of priesthood is not about our own faith and trust in God, but in the faith and trust in God that we have seen in the most vulnerable in our world. We need a new Pentecost when we see the Holy Spirit in others, especially in the poor.
