Personas de todas las naciones de la tierra estaban en Jerusalén. Oyeron a los Apóstoles, llenos del Espíritu, proclamar la Buena Nueva. Los escucharon en sus propios idiomas. No era una situación bilingüe repitiendo un mensaje una y otra vez en cada idioma. Escucharon el mensaje en griego, latín, árabe, egipcio, sirio y muchos otros idiomas. El mensaje fue tan poderoso que 3.000 se unieron a los Apóstoles en el Bautismo y en la Fracción del Pan.
Hoy, hay personas de todas las naciones reunidas en las fronteras internacionales. Estas masas huyen de situaciones de peligro. Buscan la libertad, la dignidad y la vida. Son los pobres y sin poder del mundo. Nos piden que los reconozcamos como hermanos y hermanas. Individualmente, sus historias tocan a nuestros corazones. Queremos ayudar, pero ¿cómo podemos ayudar a tantos?
Los Apóstoles ya hicieron esa pregunta después de que Jesús habló a la multitud, y después de que terminó Jesús les dijo que les dieran de comer. Él proveyó mientras alimentaban a los 5,000 de cinco panes de cebada y algunos peces. Pentecostés no se trata de resolver problemas políticos, sociales o económicos, sino que es la fiesta que nos mueve a honrar a todas las personas del mundo.

Pentecost
People from all nations on earth were in Jerusalem. They heard the Apostles, filled with the Spirit, proclaiming the Good News. They heard them in their own languages. It was not a bilingual situation repeating a message over and over in each language. They heard the message in Greek, Latin, Arabic, Egyptian, Syrian and many other languages. The message was so powerful that 3,000 joined the Apostles in Baptism and in the Breaking of Bread.
Today, there are masses of people from all nations gathered at international borders. These masses are fleeing situations of danger. They seek freedom, dignity and life. They are the poor and powerless in the world. They ask us to recognize them as brothers and sisters. Individually, their stories pull at our hearts. We want to help, but how can we help so many?
The Apostles already asked that question after Jesus spoke to the crowd, and after he finished Jesus told them to feed them. He provided as they fed the 5,000 with five barley loaves and a few fish. Pentecost is not about solving political, social or economic problems, but it is the feast that moves us to honor all people.

Oh Jesús, tú nos llamas: “Síganme”. Bendice, Señor, a todos los que acogen tu llamado. Puede que el camino no sea fácil, pero tenemos la confianza de que todo es posible si caminamos contigo. Que este viaje nos abra los ojos a las maravillas de tu amor por nosotros. Oramos por toda tu gente, por todos los creyentes e incrédulos, por los líderes y seguidores. Oramos por la sanación, el perdón, la compasión, la justicia y la paz. Oramos para que, al seguirte, nosotros también podamos ser pescadores de hombres. Bendícenos en nuestro viaje.
O Jesus, you call us, “Come after me.” Bless, O Lord, all who welcome your call. The path may not be easy, but we have confidence that all things are possible if we walk with you. May this journey, open our eyes to the wonders of your love for us. We pray for all your people, for all believers and unbelievers, for leaders and followers. We pray for healing, for forgiveness, for compassion, for justice, for peace. We pray that as we follow you, we too can be fishers of men. Bless us on our journey.
